Abstract

These Regulations amend the Fisheries (General) Regulations: in regulation 2 by adding the definition of "bycatch"; in regulation 43 in relation with prohibited fishing methods and gear and exemptions for trawl fishing; and by adding a new Part (VIIa) concerning the authorization of fishing for crustacean. The Director of Fisheries may, from time to time and on the basis of scientific evidence, by notice in the Gazette declare any fishery water or part thereof to be open for fishing for crustacean and may prescribe conditions and restrictions for such fishing.
