Abstract These Regulations provide for the safety requirements for fishing vessels whether propelled by sail or by engine, which are put to sea for the purposes of fishing. The provisions of regulations 2 and 3 shall not apply where a vessel is put to sea for use solely in bait catching, fish potting, seine-net fishing or other fishing within the hundred fathom curve of Barbados. Any person in charge of a vessel who contravenes any of the provisions of regulations 2, 3 or 5 shall be guilty of an offence and liable on conviction to a fine or to imprisonment. The Chief Fisheries Officer may at any time enter on any vessel for the purpose of controlling the compliance with the provisions of these regulations.
