This Act commences on 21 January 2020.
Abstract

This Act inserts new definitions of community based authorized officer, IMO number and local agent in section 1. Furthermore, this Act makes amendments regarding recording of all the crews employed on the Vanuatu fishing vessels; reporting requirement relating to the license issued by a coastal State; the observance of law concerning navigation, shipping, health, customs, immigration, labor, maritime, environment, biosecurity or any other matter; high seas transshipment of fish; and the appointment, powers and functions of community based authorized officers. This Act inserts new sections on authorization to charter fishing vessel to third party which includes section on application procedures; authorization for transshipment and payment of catch transshipped on the high seas; and the compliance with the standards under FAO Port State Measures Agreement while seeking entry into a port or located in a port.
