Abstract The purpose of the Part of this Act amending the 1996 Act is: (a) to provide for a process for the introduction into the quota management system of, and allocation of quota for, the stocks listed in the Fourth Schedule of the principal Act; (b) to introduce freshwater eel in the South Island into the quota management system. The amendment of the 1983 (Part 3) concerns taking of fish in excess of quota, and carrying forward of unused quota, and there are amendments relative to fishing for freshwater eel.
