Abstract

In compliance with the provisions laid down at the European Union level by Directive 77/96/EEC, the present Rules govern the examination for trichinae (trichinella spiralis) to be carried out on fresh meat of domestic swine imported from third countries. The examination is to be carried out in accordance with one of the methods provided for in Schedule I on the whole carcass or, failing this, on each half carcass, quarter carcass or piece to be imported into the European Community. The examination shall take place in a slaughterhouse approved in the exporting country.
