These Regulations provide for the appointment of authorised officers and for control and enforcement powers in respect of certain EU Geographical Indication measures to which the regulations are applied in the Agricultural sector. They also appoint the competent authority responsible for the application of the Council Regulation, the Commission Delegated Regulation and the Commission Implementing Regulation and for the registration of an agricultural product or foodstuff (protected designation of origin or protected geographical indication). The Minister may grant the protection in accordance with Article 9 of the Council Regulation to a product which is the subject of the application to the Commission.
