Abstract

This Statutory Measure, made by the Minister of Forestry and Fisheries under sections 13 and 19 of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, 1996, requires all producers, exporters, traders and municipal markets of pome fruit and stone fruit for fresh domestic consumption and/or export and/or processors of apples to register with HORTGRO, a non-profit company that acts as administrator for purposes of this Measure. A person shall have a choice to register as either a producer or exporter or trader a and person who is a producer as well as a producer or exporter or trader shall register as a producer and as exporter or trader. The Measure will assist in promoting the efficiency of the marketing of pome fruit and stone fruit products.
