Abstract

This Statutory Measure, made by the Minister of Forestry and Fisheries under sections 13 and 19 of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act, 1996, requires producers, processors, marketers and exporters of apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, nectarines, citrus fruit and table grapes and hybrids to register with Agri-hub. Agri-hub was specifically established for the purpose of registration and handling information gathering, processing and dissemination on behalf of the various fruit role-players in South Africa. Registration is necessary to enable Agri-hub to make available continuous, timely and accurate market information in respect of fruit which is essential for decision making and development of the market.
