It contains provisions on: environmental impact assessment (Chap. 2) and on what is to be considered an environmentally relevant activity (Chap. 3), Regulatory requirements (Chap. 4); Matters relating to environmental management and environmental offences (Chap. 5); Waste management by local governments (5A); National Pollutant Inventory (Chap. 6); Administration and Fees (Chap. 7 and 8); it also sets requirements and guidelines to prevent environmental nuisance, which includes noise and odours, and the procedures for complaints on nuisances. It provides criteria for standard mining activities (sect. 6) and on waste disposal (sect. 7). Part 3 is dedicated to ozone depleting substances. It sets requirements on labelling and regulates the sale, handling, use and disposal of controlled substances.
