Long title
An Act to provide for sustainable environmental protection and management, to establish effective allocation of administrative responsibilities for environment management, the undertaking and coordination of environmental management, and related activities, the incorporation of international treaty obligations with respect to the environment into national and law related matters. To establish and consolidate in one legal regime the Implementation of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements and to provide the framework financial mechanism to implement the Act.

Abstract

This Act provides with respect to the protection and management of the environment and natural resources (including forest and water resources) and wildlife in Antigua and Barbuda and also concerns, climate change issues, the establishment of protected areas and access to genetic resources and the sharing of benefits of such resources. The main objective of this Act is to ensure the establishment of an integrated environmental management system in which environment is managed in a sustainable manner. The Act consists of 114 sections divided into 15 Parts. It is completed by 15 Schedules.
