Abstract

According to this amendment of the Regulations of 2005, it is provided that (i) the Environmental Impact Assessment Certificate shall be issued upon proof of land ownership and proper location of the proposed project; (ii) the Minister may issue a Provisional Environmental Clearance for (a) industrial projects; (b) agro-processing projects; (c) any project of strategic national or public interests as may be determined by the Minister. Part III, dealing with Project Registration and Screening, is entirely substituted. It in particular regards (i) applications for EIA; (ii) classification of projects into four categories and related application requirements; (iii) requirements for the issuance of the Provisional Environmental Clearance; (iv) rules for loss or destruction of certificates; (v) validity period for pending EIA process. Schedule 1 lists the different categories of projects and the different types of projects connected to them.
