Abstract

This Regulation provides for the identification of activities for which environmental assessment is mandatory and activities which are exempted from the environmental assessment process. Mandatory activities include the construction, operation or reclamation of a pulp, paper, newsprint or recycled fibre mill with a capacity of more than 100 tonnes per day; a water reservoir with a capacity greater than 30 million cubic metres or a pesticide manufacturing plant. Exempted activities include the widening or realignment of an existing highway; the drilling or reclamation of a water well or the drilling or reclamation of a water observation well or monitoring borehole.
