Abstract

These Regulations provide for the control of the collection, treatment and disposal of oil used in relation with mechanic devices, cooking oil and similar oils. Treatment or disposal of such oil requires a licence to be granted under these Regulations. Any person whose industrial, commercial or other activity generates waste oil (“generator”) shall treat, store and label the oil in the manner as prescribed by these Regulations or by the enforcing agency in relation to solid wastes and hazardous wastes. A licensee shall draw up an inventory of the waste oil received and treated by him or her during a given month, in the form specified in the First Schedule and prepare a contingency plan, providing for a prompt response and mitigating measures, in case of an accidental spill on the premises of the treatment facility. The Regulations further lay down rules applicable to carriers of waste oil and for the storage of oil by big and small generators and place restrictions on the disposal of waste oil.
