These new areas comprise the national territory of the former Transkei, Bophuthatswana, Venda and Ciskei, and the areas in respect of which the former self-governing territories of Gazankulu, KaNgwane, KwaNdebele, KwaZulu, Lebowa and Qwaqwa were established.
