Abstract

The present Ordinance regulates requirements for the quality of water intended for human consumption in accordance to the Health Act 2007. In particular, the purpose of the Ordinance is: a) the protection of human health against the adverse effects of any contamination of water intended for human consumption by ensuring that it is wholesome and clean; b) the implementation of the Council Directive 98/83/EC of 3 November 1998 on the quality of water intended for human consumption. The text consists of 25 articles divided into 7 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Quality of water intended for human consumption (II); Treatment of water (III); Obligations of the operator of a water supply system (IV); Monitoring (V); Legal remedies and penalties (VI); Transitional and final provisions (VII). Five Annexes are enclosed.
