Abstract

According to Presidential Decree No. 320 of 8 February 1954, any animal older than twelve months which shows clinical signs giving rise to the suspicion of scrapie is to be considered suspected. This Decree prescribes that any suspected case of scrapie must be immediately reported to the competent authorities. The national authority will also dispose the slaughtering of animals affected from scrapie and samples analysed in approved laboratories. The results will be communicated to the Ministry of Health. Under article 6 is established a financial compensation for the owners of caprine and ovine herds affected from scrapie. (8 articles and 3 Annexes)
