Abstract This Decree implements the EC Council Directive concerning purebred breeding animals of the bovine species. The breeding association for purebred bovine animals, with main seat in Norway, and which shall establish and keep the purebred bovine animals register, shall be approved by the Ministry of Agriculture. Section 4 concerns the testing of "genetic values" of purebred animals and section 5 contains criteria for approval. Sections 6 and 7 provide for the registration of breeds. The organization shall issue, upon request, an identification document for purebreeds. Section 9 provides for importation from third countries and certificates of origin.
