Abstract The objective of this Decree of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia is to protect endangered wild plant species. This Decree lays down special regime of protection and guidelines for the conservation of habitats of wild species in order to maintain the favorable status of these species. The protection regime and protection of habitats ensures the protection on internationally protected species. The protected wild plant species are considered to be: (1) endangered, which means that their survival is unlikely if the factors jeopardizing the work continues, except those species whose natural range is irrelevant in that territory: (2) vulnerable, which means that they are likely in the near future to move into the category of affected plant species if the factors jeopardizing remain operational; (3) rare, which means that their populations are small and are not endangered or vulnerable; (4) endemic and requiring particular attention, due to the nature of their habitats and potential impacts of their exploitation on habitat and conservation status of plant species. This Decree is composed of 25 articles divided into the following Sections: Introductory provisions (Sec. 1); Rules of conduct (Sec. 2); Control (Sec. 3); Transitional and final provisions (Sec. 4). Annex 1 specifies the list of protected plant species that are native to the Republic of Slovenia. Annex 2 provides the list of protected plant species in the interest of the European Community that are not native to the Republic of Slovenia.
