Abstract This Decree sets out rules regarding the use of voluntary distinctive information by food producers on labels, images and during advertisement of food with the scope of getting the attention of consumers. This Decree must be applied to food distributed in Hungary of which label, presentation and advertisement refer to its origin, higher quality or non-industrial production. Articles 2-6 contain the requisites for the use of specific distinctive information, like “Hungarian product”, “national product”. Information regarding the higher quality or non-industrial production may be used if the quality and way of production of a given product is in conformity with the principles and requisites of the Hungarian Food Codex.
