This Decree enters into force on the day of its publication.
Abstract

This Decree, consisting of eight Chapters divided into 49 articles, regulates the State Policy on Technical Assistance, Rural and Social Extension within the State of Rio Grande do Sul (PEATERS); the State Program of Technical Assistance and Rural and Social Extension (PROATERS); the State Fund for Technical Assistance and Rural and Social Extension (FUNDATERS); the State Council for Sustainable Rural Development (CEDRS). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned institutions, which respective principles are: the adoption of sustainable rural development activities, compatibly with the appropriate use of natural resources and the preservation of the environment, including the appropriation of organizational innovations; the adoption of the principles of ecologically-based agriculture, with a focus on development of production systems on a sustainable basis and built from the articulation of scientific, empirical and traditional knowledge; coordinate actions to achieve its goals; to promote coordination of intersectoral and multidisciplinary policies aimed at guiding, monitoring and analyzing the technical, socio-economic and environmental viability of actions and projects to be developed; promoting sustainable development of the rural family farmers, rural women workers, rural settlements, professional and artisanal fishers, fish farmers, elderly and indigenous peoples in order to provide them with increased production capacity, employment generation and income enhancement.
