Abstract

Act No. 3 of 1953, sections 1, 2, and 5 of which are implemented by the present Decree, aims at the control of turnover of fish in sales immediately after catch. This Decree prohibits the processing, sale and exportation of all fish species listed in section 1, irrespective of its origin, if the fish specified is not sold in first instance in accordance or by the sales associations mentioned in section 2. These associations operate in a specified geographical area and are approved by the Department of Fisheries. Section 3 provides for the sale of farmed trout and salmon for purposes of human consumption. Section 5 exempts processing of own catch from the prohibition contained in section 1. The fisheries associations may place restrictions on fishing in accordance with section 5. (9 sections)
