Abstract

This Decree determines the characteristics of infected, suspected of being infected and healthy pigs. Each herd shall be classified on the basis of these characteristics by the district veterinary office and a certification shall be issued. Healthy herds shall be controlled once a year, except for reproduction boars and animals bred in artificial insemination stations which shall be controlled every six months. Articles 9-10 regard proceedings in case of infection. There may be taken measures like slaughtering, elaboration of an eradication plan, vaccination, compensation, disinfection. Movement, introduction of new animals in healthy herds, sale, import of pigs from EU member states and from third countries are regulated in articles 11-14. Articles 15-19 lays down provisions regarding the duties of veterinarians, competent authorities and laboratories. Quarantine rules are contained in articles 20-21.
