The latest consolidated version of the Decree entered into force on 1 April 2015. Abstract The intention of this Decree is to provide for the management of reeds in the bed of Lake Balaton and its littoral zone so as to promote the protection of biodiversity and conservation of water quality. Priority shall be given to the preservation of existing reeds or, where possible, to the establishment of new ones. This Decree sets out the rules of evaluation, classification and management of reeds in general. The creation of new reeds and their renewal must be done with planting materials originating from the catchment area of Lake Balaton. The Annex specifies the classes of reeds in terms of economic value and nature protection.
