Abstract The purpose of this Regulation is to facilitate an effective regulation of fisheries, better control of resource recovery, and a better basis for statistics and research using electronic systems and digital communication for reporting any fishing activity and catches. This applies to Norwegian fishing vessels measuring less than 15 meters in length; they are required to be equipped with electronic devices (smart phones and operating systems) that can provide them to run software and applications. Notification shall be sent by the Directorate of Fisheries messaging application while the vessel’s responsible person must ensure the device is fully functioning and updated prior to any fishing activity.
