Abstract

This Decree, consisting of 37 articles, provides for the institution and recognition of Private Reserves of Natural Patrimony (RPPN) within the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, regulated by art. 21 of Federal Law 9.985 of 18 July 2000 on the National System of Conservation Units (SNUC). It establishes the Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) as a private domain conservation unit, with the objective of a sustainable preservation of its biological diversity. It will be carried out through a Term of Commitment signed by the owner or legal representative of the property before the Institute of Environment of Mato Grosso do Sul (IMASUL), after having verified the existence of public interest, in a specific procedure. The owner or legal entity, interested in having his property, fully or partially, transformed into a RPPN, must send a request to IMASUL, requesting the creation of the RPPN, in whole or in part of his property, according to the models of requirements, the procedure and documentation contained in specific regulation.
