Abstract

This Decree applies to Norwegian and foreign commercial fishing vessels of any type and support vessels including vessels for experimental fishing and exploration. It completely prohibits the fishing for young Norwegian herring (herring hatched in the spring)in the Fisheries Protection Zone of Svalbard. Infringement, caused by either intentional or negligent behaviour, shall be punished in accordance with sections 8 and 9 of Act No. 91 of 1976. Assistance in fishing or attempt to fish shall be regarded as fishing. (4 sections)
