The Decree remains in force for the whole year 2009.
Abstract

This Decree prohibits Norwegian vessels to fish for and land basking sharks, dogfishes and mackerel sharks in the Norwegian EEZ and the in international waters ICES Statistical areas I-XIV. Dogfishes may be fished by vessels of less than 28 metres that fish with conventional gear in the Norwegian territorial and inner waters. Bycatch of basking sharks shall be returned alive to the sea, but if the fish is already dead or dying it may be landed as bycatch. Offending these provisions shall be punished in accordance with sections 61, 62 and 63 of the Marine Living Resources Act.
