Notwithstanding the prohibition, vessels of Norway with a purse seine licence may catch 39.125 tons of capelin in the Fisheries zone of Jan Mayen and in areas of the Fisheries Zones of Greenland and Iceland north of 64° 30 N and the EEZ of Norway north of 64° 00. The whole quota may be caught in the EEZ of Iceland. The Decree further specifies an opening date of the fishing season, grants power to the Fisheries Directorate to prohibit fishing in certain areas or to order a stop on fishing once the maximum allowable catch is reached, provides rules for maximum quotas for single vessels and defines offences.
