Abstract

This Decree introduces a duty for Norwegian vessels used for fishing or for hunting of marine mammals to be equipped with approved radio equipment and to answer call from the coast guard or other fisheries enforcement authorities empowered under Chapter IX of the Marine Fisheries Act 1983. It applies also to foreign vessels fishing in the Norwegian economic zone, the fisheries zones of Jan Mayen and the fisheries protection zones of Svalbard. In the case of infringement of provisions of this Decree the control authority shall report to the Directorate of Marine Navigation. (6 sections)
