Abstract This Decree-Law is composed of four Chapters divided in 98 articles and three Annexes. It rules on the use of water resources. In particular, it regulates use rights, authorizations, licences and concessions. Particular attention is dedicated to the abusive use of water resources and to the institution of a monitoring plan and a dedicated National Information System. Moreover, the Decree-Law provides a classification of water uses and, accordingly, rules on environmental impact assessment as well as residues discharge. The Decree also rules on water infrastructures according to the different uses. Finally, it regulates control procedures and applicable sanctions.
