Abstract

This Decree-Law No. 148/99 approves the Council Directive 96/23/EC on measures to monitor certain substances and residues thereof in live animals and animal products. It consists of 8 chapters and 6 annexes establishing the sanitary requirements to be satisfied and controls to be carried out on animals and products of animal origin. The text is divided as follows: Control measures relevant to residues and substances referred in annex I (chap. 1); Monitoring plans on (chap. 2); Auto-control measures (chap. 3); Official controls (chap. 4); Measures to be applied in cases of infraction (chap. 5); Imports from third countries (chap. 6); Sanctions (chap. 7); Final provisions (chap. 8). Annexes list unauthorized substances and sampling method according to the different animal species.
