The Agency shall be the principal environmental management authority for the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of lakes, rivers, and marine areas. It shall, within its area of competence, be instrumental in the implementation of environmental policy and promotion of the sustainable management of fisheries resources. It shall be the authority for purposes of Regulation (EU) No. 1143/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species. This Decree defines specific duties of the Agency. It shall, among other things, be responsible for the protection of natural habitats and species and the collection of data on fish stocks to be carried out also under the protection of natural habitats and species.
