Abstract

This Order declares, under section 26 of the Water Resources Management Act 2002, an area of waters as a Water Protection Zone. The purposes for which the Matnakara Water Protection Zone is declared are: (a) to protect the quality and quantity of the Tagabe river as the only current water source for Port Vila, and the nearby settlements; and (b) to create a sustainable multi-purpose land use management water catchment model to be replicated in other watersheds in Vanuatu.
