Abstract

These provisions apply to dairy farms in Malta. The regulations are grouped into the following three parts: (I) General; (II) Construction; (III) Keeping and Practice. Firstly, regulation 3 deals with the issue by the Superintendent of Health of the licence required under article 40 of the Food, Drugs and Drinking Water Act. As regards construction, any premises used as a dairy farm shall be in accordance with either the cowshed system or the parlours system (reg. 6). Further provisions concern the conditions under which dairy farms shall be kept and operated, giving due regard to ventilation, hygienic requirements, protection against contamination and communication of diseases, milk cooling facilities.
