They generally guide the tea industry in Kenya and apply with respect to tea produced and marketed in the country, and imported or exported into or out of the country. The Regulations aim for the development, promotion and regulation of the tea industry for the benefit of tea growers and stakeholders within the tea industry. The Regulations mandate the registration of commercial tea nurseries and give smallholder tea growers the option to register their exercise. It also requires a person who intends to manufacture tea to apply for a licence.
