Abstract These Regulations amend the principal Regulations by inserting a new regulation 8. This provides that the No. 2 Regulations are, to the extent specified, to be treated for the purposes of the Consumer Protection Act 1987 as if they were safety regulations under that Act. The Consumer Protection Act contains a number of provisions providing for the enforcement of safety regulations. Section 12 of the Act which provides for offences in respect of contravention of safety regulations is not applied because contravention of the No. 2 Regulations is made an offence by regulation 7 of those Regulations.
