Abstract

This Directive lays down the health inspection rules as well as the level of health fees applying to meat intended for the domestic market in the Member States. The Directive shall not affect national rules concerning the slaughter of an animal for the farmer’s personal needs, provided that such rules prescribe guarantees for checking that the meat from the animal is not sold for public consumption.
