Abstract

These Regulations amend the Common Agricultural Policy Single Payment and Support Schemes (Cross Compliance) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 to provide, in the Schedule (paragraph 9B), for the offence of contravention of, or failure to comply with, certain requirements relating to the protection of groundwater against pollution introduced by Regulation (EU) No 1310/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council. This Regulation adds a protection of groundwater against pollution provision to Annex III to Council Regulation (EC) No. 73/2009 establishing common rules for direct support schemes for farmers under the common agricultural policy and establishing certain support schemes for farmers. Requirements are laid down by the Groundwater Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 and the Water (Northern Ireland) Order 1999.
