Abstract

The present Regulation lays down provisions regarding genetically modified organisms which have been authorized for the placing on the market in compliance with Directive 2001/18/EC, as well as applications for placing on the market under Community legislation. The scope does not encompass medicinal products for human and veterinary use authorized under Regulation (EEC) No. 2309/93. Chapter II of the Regulation is devoted to applications for the placing on the market of GMOs. Such applications shall include a unique identifier for each GMO concerned. Further, Chapter III concerns GMOs for which consent for their placing on the market has been granted prior to the entry into force of this Regulation. The Annex attached sets out the formats for unique identifiers.
