Abstract

This Regulation amends Annexes III, X and XI to Regulation (EC) 999/2001 which lays down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in animals in order to protect human and animal health. The amendments specify rules to be followed during monitoring programmes for bovine, ovine and caprine animals. The number of suspected cases should be reported by Member States in their reports; samples and laboratory tests should be kept as shown in Annex II and statistical surveys must be kept and reported periodically as specified in Annex IV.
