Abstract This Act, consisting of 29 Articles organized into six Parts, aims to establish the Commission for Lands with the primary objectives of (i) recommending and advising on land policy implementation, (ii) providing guidance to the Government on a comprehensive program for land legislations in Zanzibar, (iii) resolving land disputes, (iv) conducting research on land-related matters, and (v) regulating national land use planning throughout the country. The executive and supervisory body of the Commission is the Commission's Board, which specifically (i) directs the Commission in matters related to land management and administration, (ii) monitors and evaluates the Commission's performance, and (iii) takes effective measures to establish and maintain a land administration system. The Act also covers other aspects related to the Commission, including procedural matters, financial provisions, annual reporting, and penalties for offenses committed against the Commission.
