This Directive came into force on 22 January 1998.
Abstract

The present Directive aims at a better protection against the introduction, on citrus fruit, of Xanthomonas campestris (all strains pathogenic to citrus), Cercospora angolensis Carv. et Mendes and Guignardia citricarpa Kiely (all strains pathogenic to Citrus). In particular, points 16.1, 16.2 and 16.3 of Section I, Part A of Annex IV to Council Directive 77/93/EC are hereby replaced by the provisions laid down in the Annex attached to this Directive.
