Abstract The Tanzania Coffee Board is established as a body corporate under section 3. The functions of the Board are outlined in section 5 and include the making of regulations for the coffee industry, to regulate and control the quality of coffee and coffee by-products, and to promote in various ways the production, processing and marketing of coffee in Tanzania and the exportation of coffee. The Board shall also grant licenses for coffee exportation and other coffee dealer licences (sect. 12), register coffee growers (sect. 7), and register coffee processing plants (sect. 13). The Director of the Department responsible for crop development and technical services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security shall prescribe types and varieties of coffee to be grown in different parts of Tanzania (sect. 8), authorize breeding and importation of seeds and seedlings for the cultivation of coffee (sect. 9), and certify seeds (sect. 10). A Coffee Development Fund, managed by a Fund Committee, is established under section 31.
