Abstract This Act consisting of 9 articles and III Annexes aims at implementing article 30 of the Environmental Protection Law of Jordan promulgated in 2017 by (i) providing for the detailed tasks and powers of the Ministry of Environment; (ii) designating the Ministry of the Environment as a contact point regarding the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); and (iii) establishing at the Ministry a National Committee for Climate Change (NCCC), responsible for oversight and coordination, chaired by the Minister of Environment as well as specifying its tasks and powers.
