Except as provided in section 8(7), this Act shall enter into force on 1 November 1995.
Abstract

This Act, consisting of 38 sections and one Schedule, aims to reform the local government of the Chatham Islands by establishing a Chatham Islands Council with appropriate functions, duties, and powers: (b) to dissolve the Chatham Islands County Council: (c) to make provision incidental to the establishment of the Chatham Islands Council and the dissolution of the Chatham Islands County Council. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Council.
