Abstract

These Rules carry into effect provisions of the Environmental Management Act in relation to the certificate of environmental clearance issued under section 36 of the Act. The Rules concern, among other things: form and procedure of application for a certificate; processing of an application; preparation of the terms of reference of an environmental impact assessment (if required by the Environmental Management Authority); determination of an application by the Authority; establishment of a National Register of Certificates of Environmental Clearance; and transfer of certificates. The Rules also set out standards for the preparation of an environmental impact assessment required under section 35 of the Act.
