Abstract These Regulations create offences for breach of various provisions of Council Regulation 820/97/EC, which establishes a system for the identification and registration of bovine animals and regards the labelling of beef and beef products. They provide that the competent authority for the purposes of Articles 4.1, 4.5 and 4.6 of that Regulation is the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. They specify the form of a register and when it shall be filled in (reg. 3 and the Schedule). The provisions the breach of which is now declared an offence concern: imports of cattle from third countries, removal of ear tags, keeping a register, provision of information and production and retention of the register. Regulation 4 outlines the powers of inspectors appointed for purposes of these Regulations. Regulation 7 provides rules relative to offences committed by corporate bodies. Consent, connivance, or neglect of a director, manager, or secretary in relation with an offence committed by a body corporate shall be punishable. These Regulations shall be enforced by authorities specified in regulation 9.
