Abstract

These Regulations update and consolidate regulations for the carriage of livestock by sea from Ireland. They provide for the inspection and approval of livestock vessels which comply with specified criteria, the loading and care of livestock on vessels, conditions in relation to weather and the submission of voyage reports. The Minister may refuse an application or revoke a livestock vessel approval if he or she is of the opinion that, among other things, it is necessary for the protection of public health, animal health or welfare or the environment including the prevention, control or eradication of a disease.
