Abstract

The present Act implements the Council Directive 2000/29/EC on protective measures against the introduction into the Community of organisms harmful to plants or plant products and against their spread within the Community. In particular, it regulates the protection of plants from harmful organisms. The protective measures must be carried out according to good laboratory practices. If the spread of an harmful agent is to be feared, the competent authority has to inspect plants, planting material and all connected items, such as means of transport, buildings, etc.where it can be found. The text consists of 15 articles divided into 3 Parts as follows: Protective measures (I); Competent authorities and costs (II); Penalties and security measures (III).
