Abstract The purpose of the present Law is to enforce the federal energy legislation and to set up the principles for a cantonal energy policy with special emphasis on energy use in buildings. The Law creates favourable conditions for an economical and rational use of energy, as well as for the use of renewable energies. Moreover, the Law promotes measures for an adequate, economical and environment-friendly energy supply. The text consists of 23 articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (I); Organization (II); Saving measures for buildings and special facilities (III); Promotion measures (IV); Administrative proceedings and penalties (V); Final provisions (VI).
